Painted myself into a beautiful corner

So here is the fun thing. As I have been pushing to finish Mythic Notes, I decided that the only way the Assembly could truly be the powerhouse there are is by having a surface capital. Technically, they had three; London, Samundra and Alelo. London is Atlantis and is in the Eye of the Sahara. Samundra is Kerguelen. All of this is in the series in scenes and memories. But Alelo is only been alluded to. In ‘Song of Dreams, Memories and You’, Aria alludes to the city not being viable. This is why she is in her underwater house in Raja Ampat.

I didn’t really think about that scene in the grand historical sense. I just knew that the Assembly for the most part vanished around the 1700s as the Warriors of Dagon got smarter. So I ran with it. Yet, as I rolled through history and built Alelo in Belize, I knew I had two problems to solve.

This first was the Olmec, Toltec and Aztec peoples and the second was the age of discovery. The entry for Quetzalcoatl answers that as it is the story of Ce, the real King during the 9th century. However, I wrote that when I was just grabbing people and fixing them. This is before I changed the book to be more short stories and less compendium.

Which brings me to the beautiful painted corner. Alelo was founded in Belize around the time of Sargon of Akkad (2500 BC there about). By the Punic wars, its the size of Manhattan with about fifty thousand active Cetaceans living and working supporting the five houses and the numerous minor houses.

Alelo used Lanteen frigates to trade with Carthage, Rome, Tyre, the indian and Chinese cities. Gold coins impregnated with Ruby dust were rare, while minted silver and copper coins more common. Each held the obverse of the current king or queen and reverse a trident. With House Cetus basically being a gens for 400 yrs across hundreds of people with them firmly in control of the food shipments, Alelo became a massive trading partner from 200 BC to 50 AD. Following Nero, the trade dropped off, shifting eastward to Constantinople, Novogard, and even Roman Britannia.

To mantain their people and handle the primitives around them, they slowly integrated the Olmec and Tolecs inward, causing even Assembly to grow with Nahuatl inclusion, saving that language from a slow death. The inclusion happened so quickly that by 500 AD there were only those in Mexico who were Toltec. The Taino and other islanders all could write, use basic math and held basic amentities including basic clothing. Trade happened weekly.

By the time of the Templars, they are very much aware of Alelo but keep it an open secret. Genoa and the merchant cities of Italy knew of the gateway to China, called by many names including El Dorado. Yet it was always Cetacea coming to them. Never the other way. That changed in the 1300s when a Portuguese member of the Order of Christ named De Silva visited them.

See where this is headed? If everyone knows where Alelo is, what is left for Columbus to discover? What happens to Spanish Conquest? And the age of Pirates? Well, I though a lot of that out, and the location of Alelo was lost when Rome fell. So Columbus still travels west. He still does two voyages. He gets in a crapload of trouble. Spanish still get Mexico and Cuba. Dutch get their piece. However, the story of getting there is in Columbus (using his Spanish name) entry as well as Cortez.

This leads to a far more stable central and south america with a Grand Columbia among other things. Consquences of this division of islands also explain why slavery existed in the Americas among other things (like random COINS on Oak Island).

So this is where I am at. It will be as radical departure as Mao was but its actually going to plug up alot of plot holes that seem to make you go hmm.

I am projecting midway through next year. Why? Because this and Cortez are the last major entries. Then its finishing the rest of the twenthieth century add ins up to the novel series start. So the story of how Benson Dubois (yes that one) becomes president moves to another book. As does several others. I am over 500 8 1/2 by 11 pages. This will be mostly ebook and I have an ebook editor if i need one. There will be a bound version. That will probably be expensive and coffee table sized. (or even Grey’s Anatomy sized). I suspect 50 more people added before I put the Assembly in. It will be mostly timeline and blurb like. I am unwilling to split this book to give them more so their actual listing will be smaller.

Also, I am thinking of doing the plutes separately now. This way the amount of pics will drop. Pictures will still be in as will maps in their own section. And yes I will try to squeeze the timeline in.

Well thats all for this one. No eta on the return of the other books because sales suck. If you want one and cant find it, email me @ thunderclap@gmail.com subject: I want [title]. You will get a free ebook or pdf depending. Always free though.

Until Next time, Mike
