I have to agree with this on “Gotham’. There was too much fan service and not enough actual plot or story.
“Gotham” has its work cut out. I don’t have to mention how wildly popular and successful the Nolan series of Batman films have been. The show quickly establishes its dark tone and the fact that this is its own universe. The Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordan we see in “Gotham” is wholly different from the one we saw in the Nolan films and the ones we certainly will see in Snyder’s upcoming “Batman v Superman.” That’s definitely fine. I have no problem with, and in fact enjoy, seeing different interpretations of the same characters. The problem with the pilot of “Gotham,” however, is that everything is so damned force it’s hardly enjoyable.
The pilot opens very quickly with the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. It’s exactly as we’ve seen it time and time again. No attempt is made here to differentiate this event. The problem is it looks exactly…
